Michael Ancram’s Additional Costs Allowance Claim for 2006-7

Recent newspaper stories about my expenses claim under this allowance are damaging misrepresentations of the facts upon which I am currently consulting my lawyers.  All relevant items of the claim referred to, which was duly submitted to the appropriate Parliamentary authorities, were accompanied by receipts and were accepted as proper.

In previous years I have deliberately not claimed all the expenses I was entitled to under this allowance; nor will I in the current year.  The additional costs for 2006-7 incurred in necessary repairs to damage to the exterior of my constituency house caused by wear and tear over a long period of time are by definition non-reoccurring.
